In the economic scenario, the importance of pursuing, in all sectors, the UN “17 goals of the 2030 Agenda” for "Sustainable Development" is increasingly evolving1.
In this regard, CBI has started a process of measuring its sustainability performance and developed an evolution plan, in order to evaluate how its role as an industry utility can bring value in terms of ESG (Environmental, Social, Governance) for the whole Italian financial industry.
The evolution into a Benefit Corporation is one of the main steps of this virtuous path and allows us to strengthen our commitment to adopting a regenerative business paradigm, flanking our corporate purpose with a series of significant initiatives of common benefit, such as:
building of a corporate culture that values inclusion and diversity of talents, investing in the development of individuals to their full potential;
the interconnection of people, corporates and the Public Administration in an interdependent digital ecosystem, that aims financial inclusion, in addition to fostering economic, social, cultural and ethical growth for the shared wellbeing of the community;
innovation through digitalization, both as a mean to reduce carbon footprints, for positive environmental impact and as a tool for business change management, thus meeting European objectives on carbon neutrality and national goals on climate transition
Impact Report 2023
This first Impact Report outlines CBI's contribution to a paradigm shift that allows us to play an active role in improving the environment around us on the basis of the UN’s Sustainable Development Goals. In addition to specifying concrete commitments undertaken , the Company confirms its desire to take further action, enabling it to pursue the common benefit goals set out in the Bylaws of CBI.
This document is CBI's first Impact Report, a valuable tool that we will use to inform our stakeholders of our ongoing commitment to create value for Italian citizens, businesses and manufacturers and as a means to developing new initiatives capable of generating social and environmental value.
This first report includes:
The updating of the BIA and drafting of the Impact Report was performed with the support of NATIVA, a? Regenerative Design Company, with the aim of assessing the report's compliance with legal requirements, the robustness and consistency of the information, and the strength of the updated BIA score.
CBI looks at the future in a responsible way, to help build a better tomorrow.

CBI intends to continue in this important path undertaken, believing it to be of extreme value to its customers, its employees, its shareholders and the communities in which it operates, by managing its activities in a sustainable and responsible way, whilst implementing further actions that improve its positioning in ESG terms, and consequently its contribution in regenerative terms.
CBI carried out a self-assessment using the Synesgy platform, obtaining a B score (on a scale from A to E) that demonstrates a good level of adequacy with respect to ESG principles, in line with national and international best practices. The ESG score is calculated according to methodology owned by CRIF S.p.A. and based on information disclosed by the very entity to which the score refers to. CBI supports FAI (a nonprofit foundation protecting Italy's historical, artistic landscape heritage) through its corporate membership as a Golden Donor. Together with FAI, we wish to develop an ambitious project and cultural challenge, one that aims to protect our environment, whilst making Italy a better place in which to live, work and raise our children. The landscape and cultural heritage, which FAI safeguards and promotes, represents an unique capital globally and the key resource in which to invest in order to reawaken, develop and enhance our wonderful country!
CBI supports OlivaMi, a non profit organization, that promotes the adoption of Salento olive trees as a solution for restoring both landscape and employment in Salento. Over the last 5 years, the Xylella pathogen, has destroyed over 21 million olive trees in Salento, thus erasing the main source of CO2 for that region. With this initiative, CBI gives life to the “CBI garden,” a new form of sustainable and engaged form of olive farming, that encourages the reforestation of our territory while simultaneously supporting farmers. Through this initiative, CBI has also offset its carbon footprint, equal to its Scope 1 and 2 emissions.
Furthermore, through the project “CBILL per il Sociale”, for several years CBI has been supporting non-profit organisations and bodies that are continuously striving to give a better future to those who really need it.
