E-invoicing guide for SMEs by European Business Lab (EBL)

E-invoicing guide for SMEs by European Business Lab (EBL)

The CBI Consortium has contributed, in the capacity of founding sponsor (the one and only in Italy), to the drafting of an e-Invoicing guide for SMEs, carried out by the European Business Lab (EBL) upon indications given by the Expert Group on e-Invoicing of the European Commission.

This Guide gathers commercial, technical, practical, legal and compliance information, so that each and every SME interested in the above mentioned topic can deepen the required knowledge in order to act autonomously while detecting the ideal business solution.

The Guide consists of five sections.

Section One provides an introduction to e-Invoicing and its impact on business, on processes and technology, while offering an overview of different levels of automation and integration (from a manual and semi-automated level to a fully automated, end-to-end solution).

Section Two offers practical guidance on how to start an e-Invoicing project, dealing in particular with digital signatures and the related emerging technologies.

Section Three details the best practices gathered against a European and an international backdrop by e-Invoicing experts in order to provide the highest level of support to SMEs during the training/information stages.

Section Four explores the legal requirements for e-Invoicing compliance in the European Union and in different Member States, providing a practical explanation of what are the requirements necessary to achieve the above mentioned compliance by using different available options.

Furthermore, the very same part describes the proposals made by European Commission in order to harmonise and simplify the current legal framework for e-Invoicing and how it could be directed towards fostering enterprises.

Section Five focuses on invoice data standards, messages and transport technologies.

The CBI Consortium is currently translating the Guide in Italian.

The Guide can be downloaded free of charge from the section "Training" under the voice "Guides" in the Reserved Area of this website.
